Asset settings let you manage the categories used to group assets and control how assets are archived.
You need permission to view assets to open this page. Creating, editing, and deleting categories each need the matching permission for asset classifications. Changing archival settings needs permission to update assets.

Open asset settings

Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then under Resources, click Assets.

Asset categories

Asset Categories lists every category with its color, its description, and how many assets use it. Default categories show a Default badge.

Create a category

1

Open the form

Click Create Custom Category.
2

Fill in the details

  • Category Name (required) — for example, “Vehicles” or “Medical Equipment”
  • Description — optional
  • Color — pick a color or enter a hex code. The default is #3b82f6.
3

Save

Click Create.

Edit or delete a category

  • Edit — click the pencil icon next to a category, change the name, description, or color, and click Update.
  • Delete — click the trash icon, then confirm. You can’t undo this.
You can’t delete a category that’s still used by assets. Reassign those assets to a different category first.

Restore default categories

Click Reset Defaults, then click Restore. Relyant adds back any default categories that are missing. Your custom categories and any edits to existing default categories are kept.

Archival settings

Under Archival Settings, turn on Require approval to archive to make archiving an approval step. When it’s on, archiving an asset creates an approval request. The asset is archived only after the request is approved. This setting is off by default and saves as soon as you change it. To choose who approves archival requests, add a rule on the Asset Archival tab in approval settings.

Categories and custom fields

Use categories when you organize assets.

Approvals

Review pending archival requests.
