Ask AI is the assistant built into Relyant. Ask it questions in plain language, such as “What work orders are currently open?” or “How many students were absent today?”, and it looks up the answer from your workspace. It can also chart your data, take you to the right page, and create or update records after you confirm.
Ask AI is part of the AI Chat Assistant paid add-on. If your organization doesn’t have it, you won’t see Ask AI anywhere in Relyant. See Billing for how paid add-ons work.

Where you find Ask AI

The Ask AI button in the top bar opens a panel beside the page you’re on. Click Maximize to make it larger. On the Reports and Insights pages, the button is hidden because those pages have their own Ask AI tab.

What you can ask

What Ask AI can read depends on the apps your organization has turned on and on your role.
  • Work requests, work orders, room bookings, asset bookings, and transport requests
  • Inventory items, low-stock items, restock recommendations, stock demand, and stock movement
  • Supply requests, purchase requests, and purchase orders
  • Point of Sale orders
  • Reports and charts on these records
  • Students, classes, and class rosters
  • Activities, such as behavior incidents, and their details
  • School tasks
  • Student attachments
  • Student, attendance, and behavior reports
  • Recognitions, the leaderboard, and your remaining balance
  • Your organization’s recognition values
  • Sales reports
  • Sales orders, payments, and customers from Point of Sale and the online shop
  • Your meetings, and meetings shared with you or in your folders
  • Search across meeting titles, notes, summaries, and transcripts, by date or attendee
  • A meeting’s summary, notes, and transcript
Ask AI can’t see salaries, staff HR records, credentials, or system configuration. Some areas aren’t in chat yet, such as the asset register, locations directory, preventive maintenance schedules, suppliers, admissions, and the school calendar. If you ask about these, Ask AI offers to take you to the right page instead.

Reports and charts

For trend, comparison, and breakdown questions, such as “Work orders by status this term,” Ask AI builds a chart with a table. You can download it as CSV, PNG, or PDF. For a single number or a short list, it answers in text.

Point to a record

  • Type @ in the message box to search for a record, such as a work order, booking, asset, or member, and reference it in your question. You can reference up to five records per message.
  • On a record’s page, click Use current page to ask about the record you’re viewing.

Attach files

Click Attach files to add up to three images or PDFs to a message, up to 8 MB each. When Ask AI creates a work request for you, it saves the images you attached onto the request.

Actions that change data

From the Ask AI panel and the Reports Ask AI tab, Ask AI can create and update some records for you: Ask AI never makes a change on its own. Each time, it shows a Confirm action card with a summary of what it will do.

Ask for the change

For example, “Create a work request for a broken chair in Room 204.”

Review the card

Check the details on the Confirm action card, such as the title, location, time, or items.

Confirm or cancel

Click Confirm to make the change, or Cancel to stop. Nothing changes until you click Confirm.
Changes follow the same rules as the rest of Relyant. For example, a booking that needs approval is submitted for approval, and a recognition is visible to your whole organization. Ask AI can’t delete records, change permissions, or change settings.
Education Insights and Sell Reports are read-only. To create tasks or log incidents, use the Ask AI button in the top bar instead.

Access and privacy

  • Your role decides what Ask AI sees. Ask AI acts as you. It can only read and change what your role allows. For example, a requester only sees records they submitted, are assigned to, or are linked to.
  • Your organization only. Ask AI only uses data from the organization you have open.
  • Paid app data stays gated. Education, HRIS, Scribe, and Sell data is only available when your organization has that app turned on.
  • Audit trail. Each message you send and each change you confirm is recorded in your organization’s audit log.

Conversation history

Relyant saves your conversations so you can pick them up later. Only you can see your conversations.
  • Open Recent chats to return to an earlier conversation.
  • Rename or delete a conversation from the list, or click Clear to delete them all.
  • Click New conversation to start fresh.
The top-bar panel keeps one shared history across apps. The Reports and Insights Ask AI tabs each keep their own history.

Limits

  • Messages can be up to 2,000 characters.
  • You can send up to 5 messages a minute and 30 messages an hour.
  • Your plan includes a number of Ask AI messages each month. On some paid plans, your organization can go past it as extra usage. See Billing.
  • Ask AI only answers from your workspace data. If it can’t find something, it says so.
Use the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons on a reply to tell Relyant whether it helped.
