Each Scribe note brings together your own notes, the meeting transcript, and an AI-written summary. You can edit all three and ask the AI questions about the meeting.

Write notes

Open a note and type in Write notes…. You can also:
  • Give the note a title. If you leave it as Untitled note, the summary names it for you.
  • Add attendees with Add attendees.
  • Click Link to student to attach a student. The note then appears on that student’s Meeting Notes tab in the Edu app.
  • Choose a folder for the note, or leave it in No folder.
  • Attach images to add visual context.
  • Click Copy notes to copy them, or Delete note to remove the note permanently. Both are in the … menu.
If you’ve connected your calendar, click Calendar event in the note’s details row and pick a meeting from within a day of the note’s date. Scribe fills in the meeting’s title (if the note has none), date, and attendees. To change it, click the chip again and pick another meeting, or click Unlink event.
Attendee names help transcription. Scribe listens for them, and uses the number of attendees to tell speakers apart.

Review the transcript

The transcript shows each speaker turn with a timestamp. A Draft transcript appears while you record, and is replaced by the Final transcript once Scribe finishes its more accurate pass. Click Export above the transcript to download it as a .txt file. To export the whole note, see Export a note.

Assign speakers

Scribe labels speakers as Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on. To name them:
1

Pick a speaker label

Click a speaker label in the transcript.
2

Choose who it is

Select someone from In this meeting, search for a student or staff member, or type a custom name. Every turn with that label updates, and the attendee list updates to match.
If the note has attendees, click Suggest speakers. The AI matches speakers to attendees using clues like introductions and names. Nothing changes until you click Accept suggestion. Click Dismiss suggestion to ignore one.

Work with the summary

Scribe generates the summary automatically after transcription. The summary opens with a short gist of the meeting, followed by sections named after the topics discussed. It ends with Decisions, Action items, Open questions, and Follow-up sections only when the meeting produced them.

How your notes shape the summary

Scribe reads the notes you write alongside the recording:
  • Notes written before you start recording act as the agenda. The summary follows their order and reports what the meeting said about each item.
  • Points you add during the meeting always appear in the summary.
  • Bold, italic, and underlined text marks what’s important. Struck-through text is treated as dropped.
  • A ### heading in your notes is kept as a section.

Pick a summary template

Click Auto template next to the language button in the note’s details row to choose a Summary template. The automatic summary uses the template you pick.
Summaries are marked AI-generated — review before use. Check them against the transcript before you share them.
  • Edit it directly: change the text like any document.
  • Quick-edit with AI: select any text in the summary and give the AI an instruction to rewrite it.
  • Regenerate it: click Regenerate summary and optionally pick a different template or add guidance for the AI. Your edits are used as the starting point.
  • Retry a failure: if generation fails, click Retry summary.
If you’re writing notes without a recording, click Generate summary to create a summary from your notes.

Export a note

Open the … menu and point to Export:
  • PDF, Word (.docx), or Markdown (.md) downloads the note with its title, date, attendees, summary, and notes.
  • Save to Google Docs creates a Google Doc in your Drive. Click Open in the confirmation to view it. The first time, Google asks you to allow access. Scribe can see only the files it creates.
  • Check Include transcript to add the transcript to the export.

Use Ask anything to ask questions about the note. Click Shortcuts for ready-made prompts:
