Use Settings to configure how recognition works in your organization. The settings menu has a Kudos group with General, Company values, Celebrations, Reminders, and Permissions. If you can update HRIS settings, you also see an HRIS group, including Types & departments and Employee labels. On a computer, the settings menu takes the place of the HRIS menu in the sidebar. Click Back to HRIS at the top of the sidebar to return. On a phone or narrow window, tap the menu button at the top of the page to pick a section.
Required role: Owner or Admin

General

On the General page, configure the following, then click Save changes:
  • Currency: what points are called across the app. Pick Ribbons, Cookies, or Points, or choose Custom and enter a plural name and an emoji.
  • Giving balance: how members get points to give.
    • Monthly allowance: every member’s balance resets to the Monthly amount on the 1st of each month. Unused points don’t carry over.
    • One-time starting balance: each member gets the Starting amount once. It only grows back when a recognition they gave is deleted.
  • Max per recognition (per person): the most points a member can give each person in one recognition. Turn on Unlimited to let members give up to their whole balance.
  • Composer: the Prompt text shown at the top of the Recognitions feed, up to 120 characters.

Company values

Values are tags members add to recognitions. They power the feed filters and the Organization Values grouping in Reports.
1

Add a value

Choose an emoji, type a name (for example, “Teamwork”), and add it.
2

Edit a value

Click the edit icon next to a value, change its name or emoji, and click Save.
3

Remove a value

Click the delete icon next to a value and confirm.
A value that’s already on recognitions is archived instead of deleted. Old posts keep the tag, but members can’t pick it anymore. Click Restore under Archived to bring it back. A value that was never used is deleted permanently.

Celebrations

Turn on Enable automatic celebrations to post birthdays and work anniversaries to the feed. The app runs once a day at the Daily run time, in your organization’s timezone. For Birthdays and Work anniversaries, you can separately:
  • Turn the celebration type on or off.
  • Award points with each celebration, or turn points off to post without awarding any.
  • Write the Message. You can use the tokens {name}, {org}, {years}, {points}, and {currency}.

Reminders

Turn on Enable reminder emails to nudge members who still have points to give. Only members with a remaining balance are emailed.
  • Start of month: tells members their balance has refreshed.
  • End of month: reminds members to spend leftover points before they reset.
Set the Send time in your organization’s timezone.
Reminders only apply when the giving balance is a Monthly allowance.

Types and departments

Under HRIS in the settings menu, Types & departments holds the choices HR picks from for an employee’s Type, Staff category, and Department. You need permission to update HRIS settings to see it.

Employment types and staff categories

Employment types are shown as Type on each employee. Staff categories are an optional grouping, such as Teaching or Support, and are also used to target document types.
1

Edit the list

Click Add type or Add category to add an option. Type in a row to rename it, drag the handle to reorder, or click the delete icon to remove it.
2

Save

Click Save. Click Cancel to discard your changes.
Renaming an option updates every employee who has it. Every option needs a unique name.
Every employee has a type, so you must keep at least one employment type. You can’t remove an option that’s still used by an employee.

Departments

The Departments list is shared across Relyant: the same list is used for members, approvals, and workflows.
  • Click Add department to add one.
  • Click Rename next to a department to change its name.
  • Click the delete icon and confirm to delete a department. Employees and members in it are left with no department, and its approval rules are removed. This can’t be undone.

Employee labels

Under HRIS in the settings menu, Employee labels holds the labels you tag people with, such as campus or team. You need permission to update HRIS settings to see it. Under Label groups, add a group and the labels in it. Each person can have at most one label from each group. Once labels exist, you can filter People by them and assign them to many people at once. See Label employees.
Removing a label removes it from everyone who has it.

Permissions

The Permissions page shows what each organization role can do. It’s for reference only: every role can take part in recognitions, while reports, settings, and moderation stay with Owners and Admins. See the full table in the HRIS overview.
