Behaviour is where staff log behaviour incidents and track them to resolution. Each incident can involve several students and have several assignees.
Behaviour is a feature your organization must turn on. What you can do comes from the Behaviour permission of your Education role. By default, Staff, Teachers, and Support coordinators can view, log, and edit incidents, and Admissions can only view them. Teachers only see incidents for students in their assigned classes. To edit an incident you also need to be the person who logged it, an assignee, or school leadership (owners, admins, and members with the Academic admin Education role). Only the person who logged it and school leadership can delete it.

Log an incident

1

Open the editor

In the left rail, click Wellbeing, then Behaviour, and click Log incident. You can also click Log incident on the Behaviour tab of a student’s profile. The editor opens as a full page.
2

Describe what happened

Fill in Describe what happened (required). Optionally add Next steps, and add Follow-up tasks with an assignee for each.
3

Add students

In the side panel, click Add students and pick one or more students. The first student you add shows on lists.
4

Set the details

Set When it happened and Where did this happen?. Pick a location or type your own. Under Category, each of your school’s behaviour label groups has its own row. Click + on a row to pick its label. Then set the Severity (Low, Moderate, High, or Critical), add Assignees, and add any Attachments.
5

Choose who can see it

Under Who can see this, choose Only me (you and school admins), Shared (you, the people you add, and school admins), or All staff. For Shared, add people under Also share with.
6

Save

Click Log incident.
A new incident starts as Open. Assignees can always see the incident and get a notification when you add them. Only the person who logged a private incident can add assignees to it. The student picker lists students enrolled in the academic year selected in the sidebar. Your unsaved incident is kept as a draft until you save or discard it. Your school sets the default visibility and severity alerts in Wellbeing settings.

Find incidents

The Behaviour page lists incidents in a table with Incident, Students, Category, Severity, Status, Location, Reported by, and Date columns.
  • Search by student or incident.
  • Click Filter to filter by Status, Severity, Student, or any label group.
  • Click Open or Resolved in the status row to filter by status.
Click a row to open the incident in a side panel, or open it as a full page. When an incident involves several students, the Students column shows the first one and how many more there are. At the top of an incident, you see When, Location, Students, and Severity. The Properties card shows the Assignees, which you can change right there, plus Labels and Visibility. Incidents with more than one student also have a Students card. Each student’s profile has a Behaviour tab listing only their incidents. Turn on Open only to hide resolved ones. Each incident keeps the class each student was in when it happened. A class’s Behaviour tab lists incidents from the time the student was in that class, even after they move up. If you correct an incident’s date, its class updates to match. To bring in past incidents from a spreadsheet, see Import and export.

Resolve an incident

1

Start resolving

Open the incident and click Resolve, or click Add resolution in the Resolution card.
2

Add resolution notes

Write the follow-up actions taken or planned. Resolution notes are required.
3

Resolve

Click Save & resolve. To save without resolving, click Save notes.
Click Reopen to set a resolved incident back to Open. Click Edit to change the incident in the editor, or Delete to remove it. Below the incident, a short log records edits, resolutions, visibility changes, students added or removed, and attachments.

Comments

Use the Comments thread to discuss an incident with colleagues. Type @ to mention someone. You can only mention staff who can already see the incident, and they get a notification.

Raise a case

If your organization uses Cases, click Raise a case to open a case for the student, or Add to existing case… in the Case card to link the incident to an open case.
