# Settings

> Configure storage locations, stock change rules, and request and order forms

**Settings** in Stock & Inventory holds the configuration for inventory, supply requests, purchase requests, and purchase orders. Organization-wide settings, such as team members and approval workflows, stay in [Facilities & Assets settings](https://docs.relyant.app/facilities/settings/overview.md).

To open it, in the left sidebar, click **Settings** under **Stock**. Relyant opens the first settings page you can access.

## Settings pages

| Page | What you can configure |
| - | - |
| **Inventory** | Storage locations, transfer confirmation, and adjustment approval |
| **Supply Requests** | Reference numbers, stock validation, prices, locations, and custom fields |
| **Purchase Requests** | Reference numbers and custom fields |
| **Purchase Orders** | Reference numbers, custom fields, receiving signatures, and required accounting codes |
| **Accounting Codes** | Accounts, department codes, budget categories, and cost types for purchase requests and orders |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Each page needs its own permission, so you only see the pages you can use. **Supply Requests**, **Purchase Requests**, and **Purchase Orders** only appear when the matching module is turned on. **Accounting Codes** appears with the **Purchase Orders** module. Members can view some pages but can't change them.

Changes on the **Supply Requests**, **Purchase Requests**, and **Purchase Orders** pages save automatically. The page header shows **Saving…** and then **Saved**.

## Inventory

### Storage locations

**1. Add a location**

Under **Storage Locations**, click **Add Location**.

**2. Enter the details**

Enter a **Name**, such as "Main Storeroom", and optionally a **Description**. Choose a **Type**: **Storeroom**, **Bin**, **Shelf**, **Cabinet**, **Warehouse**, or **Other**. You can also set a **Parent Location** and link a **Physical Location (Building/Room)**.

**3. Set the default (optional)**

Turn on **Set as default receiving location** to receive purchase orders here when no other location is chosen.

**4. Save**

Click **Create**.

> [!TIP]
>
> You can also reach this page from the **Inventory** page: click **Settings**, then **Storage Locations**.

### Transfer settings

* **Require Transfer Confirmation** — the destination is only credited after the receiver confirms receipt. Source stock is reserved as soon as the transfer is requested.
* **Require Digital Signature** — the receiver must sign before confirming. Only available when transfer confirmation is on.

### Adjustment settings

* **Require Adjustment Approval** — stock adjustments must be approved before they're recorded. See [Inventory logs and adjustments](https://docs.relyant.app/stock/inventory/inventory-logs-and-adjustments.md#approve-or-reject-adjustments).
