# Reports

> See sales by period, payment method, product, and category, build custom reports, and ask questions with Ask AI

**Reports** shows how your Point of Sale and Online Shop are selling. Every report uses the same date range and channel filters, and you can click into any row to see the orders behind it.

> **Required permission:** read access to reports.

## Open a report

**1. Go to Reports**

In the sidebar, under **Insights**, click **Reports**.

**2. Choose a report**

Pick a report from the list on the left.

**3. Set the filters**

Set the **Date** range (this month by default) and the **Channel**: **All**, **Point of Sale**, or **Online Shop**.

## Available reports

| Report | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Sales Summary** | **Gross Sales**, **Orders**, **Items Sold**, and **Avg Order Value**, with a trend chart by **Day**, **Week**, or **Month**. Hover over a bar to see its period, gross sales, and orders. The **Sales over time** table lists the latest period first. |
| **Sales by Payment Methods** | Orders, items sold, gross sales, and share of sales for each payment method |
| **Sales by Products** | Best-selling items with variant, SKU, category, quantity sold, gross sales, and average price |
| **Sales by Category** | Revenue grouped by inventory category |
| **Custom Reports** | Your own charts and tables, under **Advanced** |

Click **CSV** on a report to download its table.

> Click a row in a report to open the orders behind it. The orders open on a page under [Orders](https://docs.relyant.app/sell/orders.md#report-drill-down), with the report filters shown as chips. Use the **Reports** breadcrumb to return to the same report and filters.

## Build a custom report

In **Custom Reports**, choose:

* **Measure** — **Number of Orders**, **Total Amount**, or **Items Sold**
* **Display by** — a time period (**Week**, **Month**, **Quarter**, **Year**) or **Inventory Location**, **Cashier**, **Payment Method**, **Inventory Category**, or **Inventory Item**
* **Segment by** — split each bar by **Status**, location, cashier, payment method, category, or item, or **None**

Narrow the data with the **Status**, **Inventory Locations**, **Cashiers**, and **Inventory Categories** filters. Start from a suggestion such as **Monthly Sales Trend**, **Top-Selling Categories**, **Cashier Performance**, **Payment Method Mix**, **Location Comparison**, or **Busiest Sales Weeks**. Export the result as CSV or PDF.

## Ask AI

If your organization has the **AI Chat Assistant** paid add-on, an **Ask AI** link appears at the top of the report list. Ask questions in plain language, such as "What are my top 10 best-selling products this month?" or "Who are my top customers by lifetime spend?". Answers can include charts and tables you can download as CSV, PNG, or PDF.

Ask AI only uses data your role can see. Click **History** to reopen a previous chat or **New chat** to start over.
