# Customers

> Keep customer records for Sell and see each customer's orders and total spend

**Customers** holds the people you sell to. You can attach a customer to a register sale, and online shop orders are matched to a customer by email automatically.

>
> **Required permission:** read access to customers to view them. Creating, editing, and deleting customers each need the matching permission.

## How customers are added

* **Manually** — click **New Customer** on the Customers page.
* **At the register** — click **Add customer** in the cart, then **Add new customer**. See [Web POS](https://docs.relyant.app/sell/web-pos.md).
* **From the online shop** — when someone places an order, Relyant finds the customer with that email address or creates one.

## Add a customer

**1. Open Customers**

In the sidebar, under **Sell**, click **Customers**.

**2. Click New Customer**

Click **New Customer** in the top-right corner.

**3. Enter the details**

* **Name** — required
* **Email** — used to send receipts and to match online orders
* **Phone**
* **Notes** — anything staff should know

**4. Save**

Save the customer. They appear in the list and in the register's customer search.

## View a customer

Click a customer to open their page. You see:

* **Customer Info** — name, email, phone, and notes. Click **Edit** to change them.
* **Summary** — **Total Orders** and **Total Spend**.
* **Order History** — every order linked to the customer. Click an order to open it.

>
> The order keeps a snapshot of the customer's name, email, and phone at the time of sale. Editing the customer later doesn't change past orders.

## Export or delete customers

* Click **Export** to download all customers as a CSV with name, email, phone, order count, notes, and created date.
* Select rows in the table, then click **Export Selected** or **Delete Selected**.
* To delete one customer, open the row menu and click **Delete**.

>
> Deleting a customer can't be undone. Their past orders stay in Orders, but they're no longer linked to a customer record.
