# Preferences

> Set your transcription and summary languages, manage your organization's vocabulary, connect your calendar, and get the desktop app

Use **Scribe Preferences** to set your default languages, teach Scribe the terms your organization uses, connect your calendar, and download the desktop app. To open it, click **Settings** in the Scribe sidebar.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Changes save automatically. Language settings apply to your account in the current organization.

## Languages

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Default transcription language** | Pre-fills the language when you start a new note. Leave it as **Not set** to use the note's default. |
| **Default summary language** | The language the AI writes summaries and action items in. Leave it as **Not set** to follow the transcription language. |
| **Confirm language before each transcription** | Shows the language prompt every time you start recording. It's on by default and applies to this browser. |

Scribe can transcribe more than 90 languages. Summaries can be written in English, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, or Chinese.

> [!TIP]
>
> If you checked **Don't ask this again** on the language prompt, turn on **Confirm language before each transcription** to see the prompt again. You can still change the language from the language button in a note.

## My Vocabulary

**My Vocabulary** lists terms Scribe should capture accurately in every transcript, such as abbreviations, project names, or staff names. The list is shared across your whole organization.

**1. Type a term**

In the vocabulary field, type a term, for example "PTM".

**2. Add it**

Press **Enter**. To add several terms at once, separate them with commas.

**3. Remove a term (optional)**

Click **Remove** next to a term to delete it.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Only organization admins can edit the vocabulary. The list holds up to 100 terms, and each term can be up to 50 characters.

## Calendar

Connect your own calendar to see today's meetings on Scribe **Home** and start a note from one, with its title, time, and attendees filled in. Scribe only reads your calendar. Events are matched to staff and parents in your organization by email.

| Option | How to connect |
| - | - |
| **Google Calendar** | Click **Connect Google** and allow access in Google. Click **Disconnect** to remove it. |
| **Outlook, iCloud or other (ICS link)** | Paste your calendar's private ICS or webcal link and click **Save**. Click **Remove** to remove it. |

> [!WARNING]
>
> Keep your ICS link private. Anyone with the link can read your calendar.

**Suggest recording when a meeting starts** shows a banner when a calendar meeting with a video link begins, and in the desktop app, when a Zoom, Teams, Meet, or Webex meeting opens. It's on by default and applies to this device.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This calendar connection is personal to you. It's separate from the organization-wide [Google Calendar](https://docs.relyant.app/integrations/google-calendar.md) integration for bookings.

## Desktop app

Scribe Desktop, which installs as **Scribe by Relyant**, lets you record without keeping a browser tab open. It can also capture meeting audio from Zoom, Meet, or Teams alongside your microphone.

* Click **Download for Mac** or **Download for Windows** to install it.
* See [Record with the desktop app](https://docs.relyant.app/scribe/record-a-session.md#record-with-the-desktop-app) for what it adds.
* If you're already using the desktop app, this section shows your version. Updates install automatically.
