# Scribe overview

> Record meetings, get transcripts and AI summaries, and share meeting notes with your team

**Scribe** turns your meetings into searchable records. Record a meeting or upload audio, and Scribe produces a transcript with speaker labels and an AI-written summary. You can add your own notes, tag attendees, and share the record with colleagues or by link.

Scribe runs on its own subdomain, for example `scribe.on.relyant.app`.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Scribe is an add-on that your organization turns on separately. If your organization has the Edu module but not Scribe, you can still write meeting notes, add attendees, and generate an AI summary from your notes, but you can't record audio or get transcripts.

## Find your way around

| Sidebar item | What you use it for |
| - | - |
| **New note** | Start a new note to record, upload, or type into |
| **Home** | Quick actions and your recent records |
| **All records** | Every note you can access, grouped by date |
| **People** | Notes grouped by the attendees in them |
| **Folders** | Your folders and folders shared with you |
| **Settings** | Your Scribe preferences and your organization's vocabulary |

## Start from Home

On **Home**, you can:

* Click **Instant record** to start recording and transcribing right away.
* Click **Upload & transcribe** to transcribe a pre-recorded audio file.
* See your meetings for the rest of the day under **Today**, and click **Take notes** or **Record** to start a note for one. This needs a [connected calendar](https://docs.relyant.app/scribe/preferences.md#calendar).
* Review **My Records**, filtered to **Recent** or **Created by me**.

## Ask about your meetings

Click **Ask AI** in the top bar to ask questions across all the meetings you can access, such as "What did we agree in my last parent meeting?" or "Find meetings where budget was discussed." Ask AI searches titles, notes, summaries, and transcripts, and can't change anything. See [Ask AI](https://docs.relyant.app/ask-ai/overview.md).

## Who can see a note

A note is private to the person who created it. Others can see it only when it's shared with them, placed in a folder they belong to, or shared by link.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Organization Owners and Admins don't get automatic access to other people's notes. They see only the notes they own or that are shared with them.
