# Members overview

> See who's in your organization, what their role allows, and manage their access

Members are the people in your Relyant organization. Each member has one **role**. Their role decides what they can do and which apps they see.

## Roles

| Role | What it allows |
| - | - |
| **Owner** | Everything, including billing. Can transfer ownership and delete the school. |
| **Admin** | Everything except billing. Every app with full access. |
| **Staff** | Create and work on records in the apps their role has. |
| **Requester** | Submit and follow their own requests. |

Your school can also create its own roles, and turn apps on or off for each role. See [Roles](https://docs.relyant.app/organization/members/roles.md). Only owners can make or remove owners, and nobody can change their own role.

Parents aren't a role. They get access through the children linked to them, from a student's guardian record or Education's **Parents** page. Staff who also have children at the school keep their role and get the parent view too.

## Team Members

In the Admin console, go to **Team Members** to see everyone in your organization. The **Role** column shows each person's role. Click the **Roles** tab to see how many people hold each role and change what each role gets. See [Roles](https://docs.relyant.app/organization/members/roles.md).

A summary at the top shows how many **Staff accounts** and **Free users** you have. Owners also see a meter against your plan and a **View plan** link. See [Who counts toward your plan](https://docs.relyant.app/organization/billing.md#who-counts-toward-your-plan).

On the **Members** tab, use **Search members...** to find someone by name or email, and **Filter** to narrow the list by **Status**, **Role**, **Billing type** (**Staff account** or **Free user**), **Department**, **Joined**, **Birthday**, or **Last login**. The row under the search shows how many members are **Active** and **Pending**. Click a count to filter by that status. The **Last seen** column shows **Online** for anyone active in Relyant in the last few minutes, and otherwise the date and time they were last active.

* Click a row or name to open the person's page inside the Admin console.
* Open the actions menu on a row and click **Edit access** to go straight to their **Role & permissions** tab.
* Owners can also use **Make Owner** or **Make Staff** from the same menu.

## The Members list

In Facilities, click **Members** to see everyone in your organization. The **Apps** column shows a tile for each app your school has turned on. Hover over a tile to see their role in that app. A dashed tile means **No access**, owners and admins show **Full access**, and people on an older custom school role show **Set by school role**.

* **Filter by app role**: use **Filter** to show members with a given role in an app, such as **Help Desk role**.
* **Set an app role for many people**: select members with the checkboxes, click **Set app role**, pick an app and a role, then click **Apply to N**. Owners and admins are skipped because they already have full access.
* **Open a member**: click a row to open their page in a panel. See [Manage roles and permissions](https://docs.relyant.app/organization/members/manage-roles-and-permissions.md).

> **Required role:** setting app roles needs permission to manage members. Only **Owners** and **Admins** can invite people.
