# Audit logs

> Review and export a record of actions taken in your organization

The audit log is a read-only record of actions taken in your organization. Use it to check who changed a record, when a request was approved, or what Ask AI did on someone's behalf.

> **Required permission:** **Settings** read access. Owners and Admins have this by default. You can also grant it to a custom role in [roles and permissions](https://docs.relyant.app/organization/members/manage-roles-and-permissions.md).

## Open the audit log

**1. Open the admin console**

Open the admin console from any app.

**2. Go to Audit Logs**

Click **Audit Logs** in the console menu. You can also click **View audit logs** on the console's home page.

Events appear newest first, 50 per page. Use **Previous** and **Next** to move between pages, and click **Refresh** to load events recorded since you opened the page.

## What's recorded

Relyant records an event when someone creates, updates, approves, rejects, or deletes something in your organization. Examples include:

| Area | Examples of recorded events |

| **Organization and members** | Organization settings changes, invitations sent and accepted, members deactivated and reactivated, integrations connected and disconnected |
| **Facilities** | Work orders (created, assigned, status changed), work requests, preventive maintenance schedules, assets (created, transferred, archived), locations, bookings, and transport requests |
| **Stock and purchasing** | Inventory items, stock adjustments, transfers and receipts, supply requests, purchase requests, purchase orders, and suppliers |
| **Education** | Students, classes, lessons, attendance, activities, tasks, grades, subjects, terms, academic years, and the school calendar |
| **Sell** | Point of Sale and shop orders (created, fulfilled, refunded, canceled), payments, customers, and payment gateway changes |
| **HRIS** | Recognitions, values, and HRIS settings |
| **Scribe** | Sessions, folders, transcripts, and changes to link sharing |
| **AI** | Each [Ask AI](https://docs.relyant.app/ask-ai/overview.md) message, each change Ask AI makes after you confirm it, and each lookup made by a [connected AI assistant](https://docs.relyant.app/integrations/ai-assistants.md) |

> The audit log only shows events tied to your organization. Platform-level events that don't belong to an organization aren't included.

## Event details

Click any event to open **Event Details**. Depending on the event, you see:

* **When** the event happened
* **User**, **Email**, and **User ID** of the person who performed it
* **Action**, **Record type**, and **Record ID**
* **Method**, **Path**, and **Status** of the request
* **IP address** and **Device**
* **Additional details**, such as the record number or the fields involved

## Filter events

Narrow the list with these filters. On a phone, click **Filters** to open them.

| Filter | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Action** | Show one or more event types, such as work order created |
| **Record type** | Show events for one or more kinds of record |
| **User** | Show events performed by specific people |
| **Method** | Filter by request method |
| **Date** | Choose **Last 1 day**, **Last 3 days**, **Last 1 week**, **Last 1 month**, **Last 3 months**, or a **Custom** range |
| **Search** | Match text in the action, path, record type, or record ID |

The **Action**, **Record type**, and **User** lists only include values that already appear in your organization's log. Click **Clear all filters** to reset.

## Export to CSV

Click **Export CSV** to download the events that match your current filters. The file includes the timestamp, user, email, action, record type, record ID, method, path, status, and IP address for each event.

>
> An export includes up to the 5,000 most recent matching events. If more events match, narrow the filters or date range and export again.

## Retention and changes

The audit log is read-only. You can view and export events, but you can't edit or delete them from the admin console.

Relyant doesn't set an automatic retention period for your organization's audit log. If you have questions about how long events are kept, contact Relyant support.
