# HRIS overview

> Recognize teammates, celebrate birthdays and work anniversaries, and track participation across your organization

**HRIS** is where your staff recognize each other's work. Members give recognitions that award points, tag them with your company values, and react with likes and comments. Birthdays and work anniversaries are celebrated automatically.

> The app currently appears as **Kudos** in the app switcher, and runs on its own subdomain, for example `kudos.on.relyant.app`.

## What's in the app

| Page | What you use it for |

| **People** | Your employee directory, with export and bulk update from a spreadsheet. Shown when the **Employees** feature is on. |
| **Recognitions** | The public feed of recognitions, your giving balance and earnings, and the leaderboard |
| **Celebrations** | Today's birthdays and work anniversaries, what's coming up, and recent celebrations |
| **Reports** | Participation and recognition activity across your organization |
| **Settings** | Point currency, giving balance, company values, automatic celebrations, and reminder emails |

When you open the app, it takes you straight to **Recognitions**.

## How points work

Your organization picks a name for its points, such as Ribbons, Cookies, or Points. Each member has two separate totals:

* **Giving balance**: the points you can give away. Depending on your settings, it resets on the 1st of every month or is a one-time starting balance.
* **Earnings**: the points you receive from recognitions and celebrations. Earnings never expire.

You can't give points to yourself, and recognitions spend your giving balance, not your earnings.
