# Set recurrence

> Choose how often a preventive maintenance schedule creates work orders

> [!NOTE]
>
> You need permission to create or edit preventive maintenance schedules. **Owners** and **Admins** have it by default.

You set recurrence in the **Schedule Configuration** step when you create or edit a PM schedule.

## Frequency options

| Frequency | Interval | You choose |
| - | - | - |
| **Daily** | Every N days | When to start, and the time |
| **Weekly** | Every N weeks | When to start, the day of the week, and the time |
| **Monthly** | Every N months | When to start, the day of the month, and the time |
| **Yearly** | Once a year | The month, the day, and the time |

## Steps

**1. Choose a frequency**

Select **Daily**, **Weekly**, **Monthly**, or **Yearly** in **Frequency**.

**2. Set the interval**

In **Every**, enter how many days, weeks, or months to wait between work orders. For example, enter 3 with **Monthly** for quarterly maintenance. Yearly schedules don't have an interval.

**3. Choose when to start**

For daily, weekly, and monthly schedules, pick one option under **Starting**:

* **Next available date** (or **Next available month** for monthly) — start at the next matching time
* **Starting month** — start in a month you choose. Useful for intervals of several months.
* **Specific date** — start on a date you choose. The day of the week or month follows that date.

**4. Choose the day**

If you didn't pick a specific date:

* **Weekly** — under **On**, select the day of the week.
* **Monthly** — select **On day** and pick a day from 1 to 31. Or select **On the** and pick a position and day, such as "first Monday", "last Friday", or "second last Day".
* **Yearly** — under **On**, pick the month and day.

**5. Set the time**

Under **At**, choose the time of day. The schedule uses the timezone shown below the time.

**6. Check the next run**

Relyant shows a summary such as "Every 3 months on the first Monday at 09:00" and the next run time. Continue to the next step to finish the schedule.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Schedules repeat until you pause or delete them. There is no end date or occurrence limit.
