# Add images

> Upload photos of an asset or link to an image hosted elsewhere

> [!NOTE]
>
> You need permission to edit assets. Assets support images only. You can't attach documents such as manuals or warranty files.

Each asset can have uploaded photos, an image link, or both. The asset's main image appears in the **Assets** list and at the top of the asset page.

## Upload photos

**1. Open the asset form**

In the sidebar, under **Resources**, click **Assets**. Open the asset, then click **Edit** in the actions menu. You can also add images while you [add an asset](https://docs.relyant.app/facilities/assets/add-an-asset.md).

**2. Add the images**

Under **Images**, click the upload area or drag images onto it. You can upload JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP files up to 5 MB each.

**3. Check the primary image**

The first image is marked **Primary** and is used as the asset's main image. To remove a saved image, hover over it and click **Mark for Deletion**. To drop a new image before you save, click **Remove**.

**4. Save**

Click **Update Asset**, or **Create Asset** for a new asset. Image changes are saved only when you save the form.

## Link to an image

Instead of uploading, you can enter an **Image URL** under **Images**. Use a public link to an image hosted elsewhere. Google Drive links are detected and displayed automatically.

If an asset has both uploaded images and an image URL, choose which one to show in **Preferred Image Source**: **Uploaded Images** or **Image URL**.
