# Wellbeing settings

> Set up support note templates, labels, default visibility, severity alerts, and case questions

**Wellbeing settings** holds the setup for support notes, behaviour, and cases in one place. It has a section for each module your organization has turned on: **Behaviour**, **Support notes**, and **Cases**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You need the **Wellbeing settings** permission of your Education role to open Wellbeing settings. By default, only owners, super admins, and members with the **Academic admin** Education role have it.

## Open Wellbeing settings

In the left rail, click **Wellbeing**, then **Settings**. Pick a section, then a page within it.

| Section | Pages |
| - | - |
| **Behaviour** | **Labels**, **Defaults** |
| **Support notes** | **Templates**, **Labels**, **Defaults** |
| **Cases** | **Questions** |

## Support note templates

Templates give staff a starting point for a note. Your school starts with **Wellbeing concern**, **Observation**, **Teacher consultation**, and **Parent phone call**. Click **New template**, or pick a template to edit it:

* **Icon & name**, and an optional description shown in the template menu
* **Note title** — use `{student}` to insert the student's name, for example `Parent call: {student}`
* **Template type** — **Text** for starter content, such as headings, prompts, or a checklist, or **Form** for up to 20 questions. Question types are **Short text**, **Long text**, **Single choice**, **Multiple choice**, **Yes / no**, and **Date**. A form can also add an **Additional notes** box after the questions
* **Default properties** — the **Status**, **Severity**, **Assignees**, **Labels**, **Subscribers**, and **Visibility** a note starts with. Staff can change them on the note

Click **Save template**. An edited built-in template shows **Customised**. Click **Reset to default** to discard your changes. Changing or deleting a template doesn't change notes already created from it.

## Labels

Label groups classify records, and each group holds its labels. For example, a **Concern area** group can hold **Emotional**, **Social**, and **Academic**.

* **Support notes → Labels** — groups for tagging support notes. **Concern area** replaces the old **Concern areas** field, and existing notes were tagged from it.
* **Behaviour → Labels** — groups for classifying behaviour incidents. They show as **Category** on each incident.

Click **Add group**, then **Add label** to add a label with a color.

## Defaults and alerts

Each **Defaults** page has two cards:

* **Visibility** — who can see new notes or incidents unless the author changes it: **Only me**, **Shared**, or **All staff**.
* **Support note alerts** or **Behaviour alerts** — turn on a severity and add the people it notifies. Support notes can alert at **Moderate**, **High**, and **Critical**. Behaviour can alert at **High** and **Critical**.

Click **Save changes**. Every alert you turn on needs at least one person.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Severity alerts replace the old **Immediate safety risk** checkbox. Until you set up support note alerts, **Critical** notes notify the school's owners and admins. People can't turn these alerts off in their notification settings.

## Case questions

On **Cases → Questions**, change how the **New case** form asks its questions. For each question you can edit the wording and the **Hint**, shown greyed out in the empty answer box.

* **The concern** is always asked and always required.
* **What's been tried** can be switched off with **Ask this question**, or made **Required**.

Click **Restore default wording** to undo your changes. Existing cases keep their answers and show them under the new wording.
