# Relyant for Education

> Run students, admissions, classes, support, billing, and reporting for your school from one app

**Education** is Relyant's school operations app. You use it to keep student and family records, run admissions, organize classes and subjects, track student support, bill families, and report on your school.

## Open the app

Each Relyant app runs on its own subdomain. Education is served on the `edu` subdomain, for example `edu.on.relyant.app`.

To switch to it from another app:

**1. Open the app switcher**

Click the grid icon (**Apps**) in the top bar.

**2. Choose Education**

Under **Apps**, click **Education**. Click **Home** instead to return to the hub that lists all your apps.

## Choose an academic period

The academic period selector sits at the top of the sidebar, above the pages it scopes. When you collapse the sidebar, and on phones, it moves to the top bar. It groups your academic years under **Current**, **Future**, and **Past**. Most lists and reports, such as classes and student insights, show data for the period you select.

When you switch periods, Relyant asks you to confirm with **Switch period** and then takes you back to the Education home page so every screen matches the new year. Select **Don't show this again** to skip the confirmation next time.

## Navigation

On desktop, a narrow rail on the left lists the main modules. Click a module to open its pages in the panel beside the rail. On smaller screens, tap the menu icon to open the same modules as an expandable list.

From top to bottom, the rail shows **Agent**, then the modules below, with **Inbox** and **Settings** pinned at the bottom.

| Module | Pages |
| - | - |
| **Home** | **Dashboard**, **My Class**, **My Tasks**, **Calendar**, and **Reports** under **Insights** |
| **People** | **Students**, **Teachers**, **Guardians** |
| **Attendance** | **Attendance**, **Excusals**, **Reports** |
| **Wellbeing** | **Support notes**, **Behaviour**, **Cases**, **Settings** |
| **Academics** | **Classes**, **Subjects** |
| **Admission** | **Overview**, **Inquiries**, **Applications**, **Forms** |
| **Billing** | **Invoices** |
| **Settings** | General, configuration, and label settings, plus **Preferences** |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Some modules and pages depend on features your organization turns on: **Attendance**, **Admission**, **My Tasks**, **Subjects**, **Support notes**, **Behaviour**, **Cases**, and **Invoices**. If a feature is off, its module or page is hidden. **Settings** appears at the bottom of the rail only for administrators.

## Parent portal

Guardians don't use the staff app. If a guardian signs in to the Education subdomain, Relyant sends them to the parent portal instead. Administrators control portal access in **Settings** > **Parent Portal**. See [Parent portal](https://docs.relyant.app/edu/settings/parent-portal.md).
