# Subjects

> Build a catalog of subjects with categories and priced durations

The **Catalog** lists the subjects your school offers, such as private classes or courses. Each subject can belong to a category and have one or more durations, each with its own price.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Subjects** is part of the **Catalog** feature, which your organization must turn on. Every role can view subjects. Creating, editing, and deleting subjects and categories needs subject and subject category permissions. By default only **Admin**, **Owner**, and **Super Admin** have these.

## Browse the catalog

In the rail, click **Academics**, then **Subjects**.

* Search subjects by name.
* Click **Filter** to filter by one or more categories, or **No category**.
* Each subject shows how many durations it has.
* Click a subject to open it. On desktop it opens in a side panel; click the expand icon to open the full page.

## Create a subject

**1. Start a new subject**

Click **Add new**, then **New subject**.

**2. Enter the subject details**

Under **Subject details**, enter a **Name** (for example, "English Private Class"). Optionally choose a **Category** and add a **Description**. Descriptions support Markdown, including tables.

**3. Add an image**

Upload an **Image**, or paste an **Image URL**. Google Drive links are detected and displayed automatically.

**4. Add durations**

Under **Durations**, click **Add duration**. Enter the **Minutes** (required), a **Price**, and an optional label such as "Standard" or "Trial". Each duration can have its own image.

**5. Save**

Click **Save subject**.

> [!TIP]
>
> Click **Change duration sequence** to drag durations into the order you want.

## Edit or delete a subject

Open the subject and click **Edit** to change it, then click **Save changes**. Click **Delete** to remove the subject and all its durations. You can't undo a delete.

## Manage categories

Categories group related subjects, such as "Languages". They appear as chips above the subject list.

* **Create** — click **Add new**, then **New category**. Enter a **Name**, an optional **Description**, and a **Color**. You can also click **New category** next to the **Category** field while editing a subject.
* **Edit** — click the edit icon on a category chip.
* **Delete** — click the delete icon on a category chip. Subjects in that category become uncategorized.
