# Notification Preferences

> Control who gets notified and when across all Relyant modules

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Required role:** **Owner** or **Admin** to configure organization-wide notification settings. All members can manage their personal notification preferences.

Relyant sends notifications for key events across all modules — work order updates, booking confirmations, purchase request approvals, and more. You can configure which events trigger notifications and how they're delivered.

## Organization-wide notifications

**1. Go to Settings**

In the left sidebar, click **Settings**, then **Notifications**.

**2. Configure notification triggers**

For each module, toggle on or off the events that should trigger notifications:

**Work Orders**

* [ ] New work order created
* [ ] Work order assigned
* [ ] Work order status changed
* [ ] Work order completed or overdue

**Bookings**

* [ ] New booking submitted
* [ ] Booking approved or rejected
* [ ] Booking reminder (configurable time before booking)

**Procurement**

* [ ] Purchase request submitted
* [ ] Purchase request approved or rejected
* [ ] Purchase order sent or goods received

**Service Requests**

* [ ] New service request submitted
* [ ] Service request status changed
* [ ] Comment added to a request

**3. Save**

Click **Save Changes**. Notification settings apply to all members in the organization.

## Personal notification preferences

Each member can manage their own notification preferences from their profile:

**1. Go to your profile**

Click your avatar or name in the top-right corner, then select **Profile Settings**.

**2. Update notification preferences**

Toggle on or off the specific notification types you want to receive. Each type has an **Email**, **In-app**, and **Push** switch. **Push** sends the notification to the Relyant mobile app and is on by default for **Needs action** items.

**3. Save**

Click **Save**. Personal preferences override organization defaults for your account.

### Education notifications

The **Edu** section of your notification settings has these groups:

| Group | Notifications |
| - | - |
| **Wellbeing** | **Support note assigned**, **Mentioned on a support note**, **Mentioned on a behaviour incident**, **Support note severity alert**, and **Behaviour severity alert** |
| **Cases** | Updates on cases you raised or manage |
| **Admissions** | **New inquiry or application**, when a family submits one of your school's admission forms. Shown to people who can enroll students |

You can mute the assignment and mention notifications. The two severity alerts are safeguarding alerts, so they're always on for every channel and their switches are locked.

Parents linked to a child also see a **Your children** section. See [Parent portal](https://docs.relyant.app/edu/settings/parent-portal.md#notifications-to-parents).

## Your inbox

Click the bell in any app to open your **Inbox**. On desktop, the sidebar lists **All** and each of your apps. Notifications are split into **Needs action** and **Updates** tabs unless you turn off **Split my inbox** in your notification settings.

When your inbox is split, the sidebar badges count only unread **Needs action** items. The **Updates** tab still shows its own unread count, but updates never add to the sidebar or app badges. When the inbox isn't split, each entry shows one unread count.

* Click a notification to open it in the panel beside the list and mark it read.
* Approval notices name the record waiting for you, such as "WR-0055 pending your approval", with its title underneath. The notice links to that record's detail page, where you make the decision.
* Right-click a notification, or long-press it on a touch screen, to **Mark as read**, **Mark as unread**, or **Delete notification**.
* Use the **More actions** menu to **Mark all as read**, **Delete all read**, or **Delete all**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Education has its own inbox in the Education app, so Education notifications don't appear in the main inbox.
